If you want to recover the full Itinerary and Custom POI capability that the software offers but TomTom have stupidly (in my opinion) removed from the device you need to run a custom menu on the unit.

Doing this will recover the missing POI menu and Itenerary functionality, but you lose the Help Me and Map Share icons (if I work out a way to get these back as well I will be happy, but all attemps at this have proven fruitless so far), this is a small price to pay as far as I am concerned as you can soon toggle between the two menu structures with a simple connection to the PC. To remove a favorite you can do it one by one going to the Main Menu > Change Preferences > Manage favorites.

TomTom One 3rd Edition – How to backup the unit

For quite some time TomTom devices have been shipped with no software disk, the only copy of the map is the one loaded to your device.

Should things go wrong, or through modifying/customising your device you accidentally delete some files you must have a backup of the data to recover the situation.

The backup should be done before you do anything to the device, this way you can always recover the unit to the exact same standard it was when purchased. Read more »
